About Gopher Score
The Gopher Score priority ranking system is used to sell and allocate tickets and parking in priority order for all ticketed Gopher sports. All current season ticket holders (all sports) and current athletics donors are included in this program. The point criteria for Gopher Score will be made up of financial gifts to Gopher Sports, consecutive years of season ticket purchase, and lettering in a sport at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities.
Defining fan loyalty is an extremely hard thing to do, as it can be represented in many different ways by fans. For the purpose of allocating priority for tickets and parking we have chosen to reward those fans that support us through attending our events and financially investing in Gopher Sports. The two major ways that we receive financial support from our fans is through purchasing season tickets and donations to the Gopher athletics department.
After studying other universities priority ranking systems, reviewing feedback from fans over the last three years and using suggestions provided to us through focus groups of current season ticket holders and donors we believe Gopher Score does the best job of balancing the importance of season ticket loyalty and philanthropic giving to Gopher Sports. Combined, these two ways to contribute constitute the majority of financial support our student-athletes and sports programs receive. This support is vital to the success of all Gopher sports programs.
Season ticket history, lifetime gifts to athletics and current year gifts to athletics are the three main components of Gopher Score. To reward and encourage giving to athletics on a consistent basis, current year giving to athletics is the most heavily weighted component in each Gopher Score. Consecutive years as a season ticket holder is very important as well and the Gopher Score formula weighs this more heavily than the majority of our fellow Big Ten institutions. The chart below shows equivalent amounts of current year gifts, lifetime gifts and season ticket history when calculating your Gopher Score.

Gopher Points and the Previous Priority Program
Golden Gopher Fund level and Gopher Points were the priority ranking systems used for football, men’s basketball and men’s hockey ticket/parking priority over the past three years. When Gopher Points was created, it was intended to be used as a tool to allow football season ticket holders to select seats in the newly built TCF Bank Stadium. The Gopher Points system was also used to reseat both Williams Arena and Mariucci Arena for men’s basketball and hockey, processes which were successfully completed in 2012. Gopher Points was specific to those three venues and those three sports only.
The current Gopher Score ranking system provides customers with one score/rank for all events, allowing Gopher Sports to balance season ticket history and philanthropic giving and allocate tickets/parking in an organized manner.
